The two composite images, “dance of darkness #1” and “dance of darkness #2,” are examples of Marion Gray’s continued exploration of light, dark, space, and the poetic movement of the human body in performance. They were taken in 1989 at The Lab, San Francisco, of the Harupin-Ha Butoh Dance Company performing Ankoku-Buto (“dance of darkness”).
